Fincantieri is an Italian shipbuilding company and the biggest naval group in Europe.
Customer needs
A very large container to be used for the lifting of naval equipment: 12 m long with a maximum capacity of 12.5 t and a total height above ground of 1.8 m.
Project Steel solution
For this project, we found the metal profiles that would best limit the large deformations involved in using this type of container. With this project, lifting is the critical aspect. The piece has to be lifted either by inserting the forks of the lift truck at four points, or by using an overhead crane hooked onto mounts welded to the base.
We worked with our external engineering studio to achieve a result that combined our experience in the machining of metal industrial structures with expertise in building metal containers.
The container designed and built by Project Steel for Fincantieri was a seamless match with the customer’s structural specifications, assuring the best possible performance.
